Summary:
Karla Caprali is an animator and filmmaker born and raised in Belem, a city known as the edge of the Amazon’s rainforest. She relocated to the United States in 2001, and since then she has been showing her work in art galleries, art institutions, and art spaces and also attended numerous artists in residency programs throughout Norway, Sweden, and Finland. She is an artist who began her career as a painter. As she went through the process of layering and drawing, she became interested in the art of moving images. Thus, she changed direction to become an animator. She has shown her work and attended Artists In Residence Programs in Brazil, the United States, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Besides oil painting and drawing, she creates her animations by handcrafting drawings to finally color and animate them using computer software and a 24-inch Wacom tablet.
